The TU840 is a Module Termination Unit (MTU) designed for redundant configurations of Optical ModuleBus Modem TB840/TB840A. It serves as a passive unit with connections for power supply, dual electrical ModuleBus, two TB840/TB840A units, and a rotary switch for cluster address settings (1 to 7). Four mechanical keys are provided for each position, ensuring proper module configuration. Each key has six positions, enabling a total of 36 unique configurations that can be adjusted with a screwdriver. The TU840 connects TB840/TB840A to redundant I/O, while the TU841 serves non-redundant I/O setups.
