Major Step in Digital Transformation
Turkey moves forward with next-generation connectivity. On October 16, 2025, the government will launch its 5G frequency tender. Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu confirmed the plan on Sunday. Commercial services will begin in April 2026.
Tender Structure and Participants
The tender welcomes all licensed operators with GSM and 4.5G services. Turkcell, Türk Telekom, and Vodafone Turkey will compete. Officials will offer 11 frequency packages across 700 MHz and 3.5 GHz bands.
Financial and Regulatory Framework
The total package value exceeds 2.125 billion dollars. Authorities already published technical details in the official gazette. Winning operators must pay 5% of annual revenues to BTK. Licenses will remain valid until December 31, 2044.
Strategic Timing and Market Impact
Turkey’s current mobile licenses will expire in 2029. The new framework ensures stability and long-term telecom growth. Investors see this tender as a key milestone in Turkey’s digital roadmap.
5G Benefits and Industry Outlook
5G will improve connectivity, enable faster data, and support smart cities. It will also drive autonomous vehicles and industrial automation. The initiative strengthens Turkey’s vision as a regional digital hub.
