Siemens Accelerates Verified Environmental Product Declarations

Siemens introduced a new automated solution for environmental product declarations (EPDs). EPD-Global, the Norwegian program operator, approved Siemens’ process for verified EPD creation. This approval authorizes Siemens to publish independently verified EPDs at scale, cutting verification times significantly.

Why EPDs Matter

An EPD acts like an environmental fact sheet for a product. It outlines CO₂ emissions, resource use, and lifecycle impact. Customers use EPDs to compare sustainability performance and make informed purchasing decisions. As regulations tighten globally, EPDs become essential across more industries.

Siemens Expands Transparency and Scale

“This partnership expands consistent, reproducible, and high-quality EPD generation,” said Eva Riesenhuber, Global Head of Sustainability at Siemens. She noted how industrial digitalization supports compliance and strengthens Siemens’ sustainability leadership.

Håkon Hauan, Managing Director of EPD-Global, added: “By scaling transparency, Siemens sets a new benchmark in verified EPD creation. Siemens ensures every EPD meets the highest standards of credibility and trust.”

Toward Full Portfolio Coverage

Siemens already provides ISO-compliant EPDs for more than half of its product portfolio. With this new certification, Siemens will significantly increase the number of independently verified EPDs. The company targets 100 percent coverage by 2030.

Driving Sustainability Through Digitalization

Siemens connects industrial digitalization with environmental responsibility. By automating verified EPD generation, Siemens empowers customers with clarity, trust, and faster access to reliable sustainability data. This milestone underscores Siemens’ mission to shape a more sustainable industrial future.
