Rockwell Automation Launches ControlLogix 5590 Controller for the Future of Smart Manufacturing

Built for performance, safety, and security, the new platform helps manufacturers simplify operations and scale intelligent systems.

Rockwell Automation, Inc. has introduced the ControlLogix 5590 controller, a major upgrade to its Logix platform. The new controller helps manufacturers integrate control, data, and safety in one high-performance system.

Solving Modern Manufacturing Challenges

Today’s manufacturers face rising competition, labor shortages, and growing security risks. Many still rely on isolated systems that slow progress and increase costs.
Rockwell designed the ControlLogix 5590 to overcome these issues and give manufacturers greater control over their operations.

Integrated Safety, Simplified

The ControlLogix 5590 includes advanced functional safety in every controller. This eliminates the need for separate safety units.
It supports global safety standards, helping manufacturers protect people and assets with less engineering effort.

High Performance for Every Application

This controller delivers fast processing and expanded memory for complex operations.
From discrete and process control to robotics and motion, the ControlLogix 5590 drives efficiency and scalability across all environments.

Cybersecurity at the Core

Rockwell built cybersecurity directly into the controller architecture.
It follows IEC 62443 standards to guard against evolving cyber threats and keep connected systems secure and compliant.

Unified Software, Streamlined Engineering

The controller integrates seamlessly with the Studio 5000 Logix Designer and FactoryTalk Design Studio suites.
Together, they simplify design, speed up deployment, and unify development across the enterprise.

See It in Action

Visitors can experience the new ControlLogix 5590 at Automation Fair, held November 17–20 in Chicago.
Rockwell will also showcase the controller on its official website with detailed product information.

FactoryTalk Design Studio version 2.03, releasing in November 2025, will support the ControlLogix 5590 Standard and XT models. Support for the Process variant will arrive in a future update.
