Ingo Kamusin Metallverarbeitung GmbH invested in a second Sinumerik-controlled lathe. The Schwebheim, Germany job shop already had seven milling machines and five lathes. In 2019, Kamusin chose a Hyundai WiA L250 Y with Sinumerik 828D. This was their first Sinumerik CNC machine. DREHERtec demonstrated the machine effectively. Sinumerik 828D proved ideal for their job shop needs. Its simple operation and high functionality suited their varied batch sizes.
Expanding Capacity with Familiar Technology
Kamusin needed a second lathe due to a strong order situation. They required more flexibility with a counterspindle and Y axis. Their positive experience with the first machine was key. They again chose a Hyundai WiA with Sinumerik. The new Hyundai WiA HD 2200 SY arrived in March 2020. It featured a Y axis, counterspindle, and Sinumerik 828D. Although familiar with Sinumerik, counterspindle training was necessary.
Counterspindle Training During Lockdown
On-site training was initially planned. However, the Corona pandemic created travel restrictions. Consequently, DREHERtec and Siemens adapted quickly. They conducted the necessary training remotely. This ensured Kamusin could use the new machine effectively. Remote training proved to be a viable solution. It allowed production to start promptly despite the pandemic.
Successful Remote Training Implementation
The remote training covered all essential counterspindle functions. Kamusin employees learned operation and programming. Siemens experts provided clear explanations and support. This practical approach ensured quick learning. Kamusin successfully integrated the new machine. They maintained their production capacity during challenging times. This demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in the industry.
