Honeywell Reshapes Business Structure to Focus on Automation and Autonomy

Honeywell Enters a New Era

Honeywell announced a major update to its business segment structure starting January 1, 2026.
The change comes as the company prepares to spin off its Aerospace Technologies and Solstice Advanced Materials units within two years.
This strategic move highlights Honeywell’s deeper commitment to automation, data-driven operations, and autonomous technologies.
The company aims to accelerate innovation in industrial IoT, electronics, and smart systems.

Aerospace Spin-Off on Track

Honeywell’s Aerospace Technologies division remains on schedule for independence in the second half of 2026.
As a standalone company, it will become one of the world’s largest pure-play aerospace suppliers.
The business covers propulsion, navigation, avionics, and power systems for commercial, defense, and space markets.
“Honeywell Aerospace is ready to shape the next chapter in aviation,” said Vimal Kapur, Honeywell Chairman and CEO.
Honeywell plans a tax-free spin-off for shareholders, following the October 2025 separation of Solstice Advanced Materials.
Solstice focuses on sustainable refrigerants and specialty chemicals, supporting global environmental goals.

Refocusing on Automation and Autonomy

After the aerospace separation, Honeywell will operate three main segments:
Building Automation (BA), Industrial Automation (IA), and Process Automation and Technology (PA&T).
This streamlined structure aligns with the global shift from automation to autonomy.
“For over a century, Honeywell has driven automation innovation,” said Kapur. “Now we lead the connected autonomous future.”

The Building Automation division will strengthen Honeywell’s reach in intelligent infrastructure and energy-efficient systems.
Industrial Automation will advance sensing and smart edge technologies across multiple industries.
Process Automation and Technology will drive innovation in energy transition, circular economy, and emission reduction.

“The data from our global installed base is unmatched,” Kapur added. “We now turn that data into customer value.”

Leadership and Future Outlook

After the Aerospace spin-off, Honeywell will continue under Vimal Kapur’s leadership.
The executive team includes Billal Hammoud (Building Automation), Peter Lau (Industrial Automation), Jim Masso (Process Automation), and Ken West (Process Technology).
This leadership group will guide Honeywell’s next phase of growth and digital transformation.
The reorganization strengthens Honeywell’s core in automation, analytics, and autonomy, unlocking new market opportunities.

Why This Matters for the Industry

Honeywell’s sharper focus signals a broader transformation across industrial automation.
Suppliers, integrators, and technology partners can expect new opportunities in connected systems, AI-driven control, and data integration.
By aligning its structure with autonomy and digital intelligence, Honeywell reinforces its role as an automation pioneer.
